Lighting Up the Backroads: Our Family’s 20-Year Journey as Internet Pioneers

101Netlink was born with Andy Johannesen’s vision for broadband Internet to be available in the rural areas of Humboldt and Mendocino counties. After working with dial up Internet in the late 1990s it became apparent that faster speeds were needed to fully utilize what the Internet would bring to rural communities. Online access to knowledge and understanding on how to build, design and study were and are still so powerful for our communities, allowing the creative nature of the North Coast to grow.

We are now over 20 years old with our first customer hooked up in Garberville in 2005 after which we expanded to Trinity and Lake Counties in 2012. From the beginning Andy and son Seth have been advancing with the technology changes, what a ride! We were an early adopter of VoIP in 2010, continuing to develop this platform as well as increase bandwidth and reliability to our existing service areas. Though the Johannesen family still lives in Whitethorn, the demand for broadband services has expanded our network and service technicians as far North as Orick and Hopland furthest to the South along the Hwy 101 corridor. We are so grateful for the long hours of driving our technicians spend to service our scenic rural communities.

The 101Netlink family is dedicated to providing reliable and affordable services throughout the communities we live and work in. We support our customer’s by shopping at your business! You might meet one of us at your local supermarket or gas station showing that your business with us supports you and your neighborhood. In this ever changing and ever international economy we live in, we recognize the value of supporting our local communities and we greatly appreciate your support, thank you!
